Re: [K12OSN] textmaker runs on server not on client

I just updated Abiword with "yum update abiword" and it works well. I typed a couple paragraphs and changed the styles and the fonts changed as they should.

I am running K12LTSP 4.0.1
The version of Abiword is now 2.0.1

I'm updating Abiword as I write this. I will test it as soon as I get a chance.
I only mentioned it here because you mentioned a speed issue. Abiword is fast. (I know one of the guys who was programming it a few years back. I don't think he is involved anymore.)

Yes, but the latest version of Abiword seems to have broken styles --
changing the style on a paragraph doesn't change the font, at least on
my setup, using version 2.03.

Have you tried ABIWord? It is very fast and can bang out normal documents easily. It is definitely worth a peek. It opens much, much, much faster than OOo.

Can't help you troubleshoot textmaker, though.

Hello,

I'm trying to find something faster than ooo and would like to try
textmaker (softmaker.de). When installed, however, the application will
run on a thin client but none of the icons/images can be seen.
If I log in at the console it runs normally.

Can anybody point me in the direction of how to troubleshoot such an
issue?

Running LTSP 3, server =dual xeon @2.4 GH, 4 GB ram, client = hp vectra
w/ matrox video and 32 MB ram.

Thanks,

Robert
