At my day job (a large national bank) we run eDirectory on Solaris
boxes. The directory folks have tested it on Linux (RHAS2.1) and say it
flies. This is for a very large directory (100k+) with a very diverse
client base. Not sure about how hard it is to install/etc from a
standing start though.
