Gary,

Are you talking about a card for the server ?

If so, I try to stay away from the cheap cards, like the linksys
and the realteks.  They don't do alot of the processing.  They leave
it to the host cpu.

For servers, I try to go with the better cards from 3com or Intel.
The eepro100's aren't all that expensive.  You should be able to
find one for around $40-50, and I think they are worth it.

I don't have any real data to prove it though.
