RE: [K12OSN] CRC error on booting

If all of your components turn out good, then the only thing left is the
MotherBoard.  If you paid yourself $0.50 and hour a new board may get
you ahead by now :-)  I am still struggling to get 4.0 running stable on
any system.  So I would keep trying with the 3.x version in case you get
lucky and it works.  I couldn't tell by your wording, did you try the
different CD-Rom?  Have you loaded up another system successful with
these CD's?  At this point if I were you, I would put all of the
components into another box (except the MB) and give them a whirl.  I
know you had said that windows loads fine, so maybe not a bad board,
just conflicting hardware/drivers.

Doug,

I've been watching this thread and think something
might be wrong with your HD or maybe the low level
formatting. I don't remember if you tried another HD
or not but it might be worth a try. If a different HD
works fine then I'd do a low level format on it, if it
is a SCSI, and repartition the drive.

Your situation reminds me of one I had a few years
ago. I had a workstation which had intermittent
problems. I changed the cpu, ram, video card,
HD/floppy controller, drives, keyboard, mouse,
monitor, and powersupply and it still acted the same
way. Thats right, the only thing that I hadn't changed
was the case itself. All of the pieces worked fine in
other cases so I just junked the case. Maybe it is
your case ;).
