Hi Everyone,
This is an update on my network woes plus a question.
Thank you to everyone for all of the help commenting on how to tell if my
computers were the problem or if the network was causing all of the trouble.
I took a little time off over the holiday and didn't respond to the
replies, but I was grateful for the help.
Someone asked about what wires pairs were crossed. My technician told me
that one entire 48 or 50 wire patch-panel had all of the blue/blue-whites
crossed. Also, there were other numerous crosses that were found, many
being orange/orange-white.
I'm keeping track of the ifconfig reports for lost packets on the boxes.
About Eric's for d in * ; do chown -Rv $d:$d $d ; done command...
I have just recieved the new equipment to replace my blown twin cpu k12ltsp
server and have once again copied my backed up /home onto the working
drive...
EVERY student can go into ANY home folder...!!! Oh, my. ;-)
The last time I ran this script, on the temporary server it produced secure
home folders...
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jim
