1- Should other distros be considered now as a platform for K12LTSP?
2- Should K12LTSP keep going as a "distro" like it is now, or would it
be simpler *in the long term* to divorce from any particular distro?
Quentin,
IMO, we should consider switching to debian or another
secure/conservative/community based distro longterm as Fedora is short
term by design. I am fairly new to K12LTSP so don't take my opinion too
seriously:) This issue was discussed on the e-smith (SME) mailing lists
as that distro (based on RH7.3) was just transfered from Mitel (company)
to contribs.org (community). I agree that Debian has many pros, such as
community based, good package system, good security, solid
(conservative) distro. I would also say a con is the installer (too
manual for newbies), although I hear this is improving in next release
(Sarge). I'm interested in others opinions/pros/cons of Debian or other
distros like *bsd.
