Are these formatted NTFS? May not work if they are. . .Others may have more information. . .
If they are NTFS. . . backup the data somewhere, reformat to FAT32 and then put the data back. Winders won't care but they will likely work fine on both systems after that.

I have a K12LTSP 5EL (CentOS 5) 64-bit server and thumbdrives are
working fine. No need to mount them manually, it's all done using
FUSE. I wouldn't know where to start troubleshooting if the drive
appears on the desktop, but doesn't seem to contain anything. Maybe
some FUSE logs? Are these FAT32-formatted drives?
