[Linux-cluster] Using mysql cluster with GFS on RHEL 4

According to
http://sources.redhat.com/cluster/faq.html#gfs_mysql
to use GFS , we can only have one mysql active.

What are the advantages of useing this technique over
master/salve in mysql?
