The DLM patches were included in the mainstream kernel in January last
year, so you shouldn't need to patch current kernel versions in order to
use it:

    This is the core of the distributed lock manager which is required
    to use GFS2 as a cluster filesystem. It is also used by CLVM and

    It implements VAX-style locking modes.
