[linux-lvm] device-mapper module compile

Having problems compiling the kernel module for device-mapper.
I am running RH 8.0 full patched-up and kernel 2.4.20-13.8 with 
device-mapper 0.96.08.

I am getting numerous errors on dm.h
I am now moving on to try it with kernel 2.5.70, but I'd like to know if 
there are any known issues with the above combi?
