Re: minimal RHEL4 webserver

Franco,

I'd like to use RHEL4 exclusively as a webserver, so I don't need all
X stuff, etc. During the installation, I was presented with a minimal
installation option, but I figured that was too small. Instead I
unchecked all package groups except for the webserver. It installled
tons of stuff, including X which I deselected. Perhaps there is
something in the webserver package group that requires X?

I'm wondering whether there is a way to get a "minimal" RHEL4
installation with httpd. And by minimal, I don't just mean a base
system plus httpd. I'd like to have the auxillary apache modules plus
the nice security services in RHEL4 (psacct, for instance).

IMO, your best bet is to install with the 'minimal' option and then install any extra packages you need like apache with up2date.
