Thank You Brian, Jos and Jay for your replies. I have RHEL ES 4
systems that I had email turned on to start with and never had to
mess with them. Now I know the solution was Dovecot. Once I knew
that, everything is working perfectly now.
Thank You
Steve

I am just now getting around to installing a pop3 server on a RHEL
ES 4 box. I went to my rhn account and found that "imap" is not
for RHEL ES 4 now. Instead it looks like cyrus-imapd is what I
would have to install. Well, I installed it and get messages
saying the password is incorrect for the mailbox account. The
password is NOT incorrect and I can log into it with mutt directly
on the server. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I am suppose
to setup an POP3 server now on RHEL ES 4? Is cyrus-imapd what I am
suppose to be using?
Cyrus is the "industrial" imap server, you'd really only want to use
it for a dedicated IMAP server. Cyrus does not use shell accounts
instead using it's own internal user database. If you want to
provide POP3 for your shell users, use dovecot and enable the POP3
service in the conf file.
