Re: Cisco 3000 VPN + Nahant = Intermittant hangups

Guys...

It worked!

The good news is that there is an open source client that has 99% of the
functionality of the Cisco binary-only kernel module (and it uses the
tun module in the existing kernel instead of reinventing the wheel).

VPNC: http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/vpnc/
SRPM here (its for Fedora Extras, but it should --rebuild for RHEL 4
just fine):
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/3/SRPMS/vpnc-0.3.2-3.src.rpm

It recompiled fine, but the thing that confused me at first is all the posts I saw about vpnc referenced 2 scripts which I didn't find after installing the rpm so I downloaded the tarball and grabbed them and then tweaked them using some of the code from the vpn-wrapper script written for BSD/MacOSX to handle rewriting the resolv.conf file. Now all is working well and my system didn't lock up.

Honestly I didn't expect you guys would have a solution in such a short amount of time... Especially on a Sunday!

Thanks again!
