Subject: Odd behavior with up2date

I've got a fresh install of RHEL4 on a 1st gen Compaq DL320 (P-III 800,
1GB, SCSI).

I just ran up2date for the first time (from cli)

It did all the required checks, pulled all the files.... and then sat
for about 7 minutes seemingly doing nothing (nothing in messages, the
up2date log, no disk activity, etc) after downloading the final rpm
(which happened to be xpdf)

Then it finally went to "Preparing... blah blah blah" and did the
install.

??

Don

It is running an under-the-hood check for dependencies and such, building the install order and such. On an old machine like yours it take a long time. Especially the first time you run it - there are a TON of updates already!
