Thanks for the pointer - you have to add the following line to the conf
file:
DisallowTCP=false
This seems to disable all security access though. I can now drop remote
displays onto my screen without having to do an xhost +
How do I reactivate the old xhost control security so that I have to do
an xhost +machinename on my machine before anyone can drop an X window
onto my screen?
