I would also recommend leaving in all the shells, they're very small and
are used in some packages' postinstall scripts. Of course a '#!/bin/ash'
script should result in an ash dependency, but you can't always rely on
packagers catching that.

I'm not sure about all the packages, but ones like cups are required as
part of LSB certification, which is an advertised feature of the
"Enterprise" line so can't very well be dropped.

On the positive side, IIRC there was some releatively recent work in
Fedora Rawhide to make sure the RPMs for a custom minimal install
fit on one CD. I assume this will make it into RHEL5 when it comes out
(current estimate late 2006?). I think this was mostly a matter of
rearranging which CD the RPMs were on.
