hiI'm having a problem with one processor not working on a RHEL 4 server. The machine is a dual Xeon (IA32) server with hyperthreading enabled. I'm not a hardware expert but it feels a bit weird that 3 processors get initialized instead of 4. I've been having this problem on and off for a while now. Sometimes the system boots with all 4 processors but sometimes the OS only sees 3. Could this be caused by an actual hardware fault or a kernel bug?
Here's a dmesg extract (full dmesg attached): ... CPU0: Intel(R) XEON(TM) CPU 2.40GHz stepping 04 per-CPU timeslice cutoff: 1462.91 usecs. task migration cache decay timeout: 2 msecs.
