Yes, sure you are right. But i removed the tools i do not need. I never used pax, would remove cpio too if it wasn't required by
mkinitrd.

I'm fine with vi(m) so i don't need nano and of vi is broken i still
can do work with ed.
I think all that packages are still addable and don't need to be
in a "minimal" installation set. E.g. if you prefer nano, install it.
If you need headless support, install mgetty etc. But it should be removed from the minimal install.

Were I creating a distro, I'd make aim to make installation recommendations that would work for almost all my users. Such choices would be very different from those I'd actually use on a system for _my_ use.

I'd not install nano, but I have seen authors' recommendations that novices (ie their readers) use nano. Therefore, I'd likely include it as part of my basic software set in a distro.
