RE: Changing root password on OpenLDAP Problem

You probably need to specify which DN to bind with...

ldapmodify -D "your root DN" -a

Subject: Changing root password on OpenLDAP Problem

Hi,
I just installed openldap from the rpms that come
with RHEL v4. I then wanted to edit
/etc/openldap/slapd.conf to change the root password.
It referred me to slappasswd, which I then used to
create an SSHA password, so I now have a line in my
slapd.conf file that says something like:

rootpw {SSHA}SOMELETTERSANDNUMBERSHERE

However, when I then try to do anything such as:

ldapmodify -a

or log in using PHPLDAPAdmin which I installed, I get
the following message:

SASL/DIGEST-MD5 authentication started
Please enter your password:
ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Internal (implementation
specific) error (80)
additional info: SASL(-13): user not found: no secret
in database

What does this mean? I've tried using saslpasswd and
saslpasswd2 but it still gives me the above error.
Any ideas? Thanks for your time...
