Heh. Not one to pass up a challenge like that — given the box had to be
reinstalled in any case — I went ahead and gave it a try anyway. :-)
For future reference, this won't work at all it seems; you get a kernel panic
during boot trying to locate the filsystem kernel modules.
Oh well. Worth a shot. Thanks for the warning Arjan!
Now if only some genious hadn't ordered this particular box without an
out-of-band management card… :-(

These are the same customers you are referring to whom Microsoft thought
would need MS Bob and the Talking Paperclip? One thing is to give them
enough rope to hang themselves, but a boobytrapped thermonuclear weapon
