Mysql 4.1 not starting

Hi,
I have installed MySQL 4.1.18 on RHEL4 with SE Linux enabled. The security context of /var/lib/mysql is root:object_r:var_lib_t because of which mysql is not starting. When I am trying to change its security context by "chcon -R -r system_r -t mysqld_t /var/lib/mysql" it says permission denined. Can somebody please help me in starting mysql with SE Linux enabled.
