Did this , but no data could be seen after mounting /dev/md0

No, not create but just start it. The friendly man-page gives an
example.

mdadm -Ac partitions -m 0 /dev/md0
Scan all partitions and devices listed in /proc/partitions and
assemble /dev/md0 out of all such devices with a RAID superblock
with a minor number of 0.
...
Adjust the minor-number to suit what the device was called in the past.
For example, /dev/md2 is minor 2.
