Yesterday, I upgraded a server to the latest kernel of RHELv4, and
rebooted. The box seemed to come online without a hitch. After a few
hours, I got this message...
irq 10: nobody cared! (screaming interrupt?)
... after which point, my network interfaces were dead. I rebooted
the box, but it happened again after a few hours.
I've heard rumors that this could be related to the Intel gig driver
(e1000). Sure enough, the only thing on IRQ 10 is one of my four
Intel gig interfaces.
I opened a bug (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?
id=189829), and attached a screenshot of the full error message.
Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this very strange message
after upgrading to the latest kernel? As a short-term solution, I've
rolled back to the previous kernel, and will report if the problem
persists. The server is an Opteron (Sun X4100).
Thanks for any ideas,
Norman
