If I remember this problem from my support days (6 years out of date
now ).. a bad ethernet card can also cause this problem. The card
sends an interrupt (or keeps sending them) but doesnt register when
the OS says "SHUT UP" or doesnt have any data when the OS says "Hey I
heard you yelling, what did you want"
