Real-Time Snapshots

Hi,
  I was wondering what software you would recommend
for taking real-time snapshots of LVs.  I understand
that at the current time, LVM2 requires some downtime
to take a snapshot.  Do future releases promise this
feature?  I'm not familiar with how EVMS does this. 
Would you recommend I use something like Veritas
Volume Manager instead?  My environment can't sustain
any downtime.  Thank you for your time.
