I think this problem may be on Ethernet adapter cable from

Hi, thanks for the email. Is there a reason why you think that? Is
there something in the new release that makes it sensitive to the cable?
The machine continues to work fine with the old release of ypserv.

I dont know if it is a cabling issue. The patch seems to have come in
on Oct 5th. It is supposed to fire off DNS queries as a sub-process
ypserv-2.13-dns-lookup.patch

Check to see if ypserv is (not) using the -b or -dns flag... and if it
has any effect. if not I think this patch may have crept something
else in.
After further review... it appears this "feature", that was added
back, is in deeded causing the problem... So for now, please refrain
from using this (unfortunate) "feature".... [rant] Having ypserv
calling dns is a bit brain dead imho... that's what nsswitch.conf is
for but... that's a battle I lost :-( [\rant]

steved.
