I already posted a bugzilla on this, just curious if this rings any bells...

I have an Abit KN8-SLI motherboard and an Athlon 64 X2 dual core 4600+ processor. When it "only" had 2GB memory on board, I could install and work with RHEL 4 U2 and U3 no problem.

When I upgraded to 4GB memory, I ran into a problem where it says "/Kernel panic - not syncing: PCI-DMA: high address but no IOMMU." /I got around that by passing iommu=soft to the kernel, but then I get "mptbase: Initiating ioc0 recovery" over and over again.

Seems that the MPT SCSI driver is not happy with > 2GB memory? Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Make sure your bios is up-to-date, dualcore-bioses have been notoriously buggy. Are you doing x86-64 or i386? I got several Xeon's running i386 and x86-64 rhel4-u2 with 4gb using MPT, all in IM-mode.
I also have Sun V20z's and V40z's with MPT SCSI controllers running anywhere from 4GB to 16GB with no issues.
