Improving RAID performance

I've looked for some information, but nothing I've found helps much.
I have an IBM xSeries 335 with two RAID 1 arrays, both U320. One
is the on-board LSI 1030 logic chipset, while the other is on an Adaptec
2120S RAID controller. The system was updated yesterday. Redhat has
finally included the latest aacraid driver! Yay!
I ran Bonnie++ to get an idea which was fastest. The LSI array,
which contains the system, is quite a bit faster, according to bonnie.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to improving the
Adaptec array's performance? I tried getting into the Adaptec config
BIOS, but no joy. Cntrl-A displays a message stating it will go to the
config utility, but the system goes right to Grub, then boots. Bleah...
Thank You.
