Dell D610 DMA on sata CDRW/DVD drive

I am unable to enable dma on my cdrw drive. This
causes my machine to go crazy when burning cd's or
watching dvd's. The cd drive is recognized as an ide
drive instead of a scsci drive. The libata module is
capable of detecting this device by adding the option
atapi_enabled = 1 then it should show up as a scsi
device but this doesn't seem to work. I also passed
the noprobe=hdc on the kernel command line. There was
some mention of passing "combined_mode=libata" to the
kernel on the fedora forums but not sure if this patch
has made it into the RHEL kernel. Has anyone else
experienced this issue

Thanks
