Desktop, WS, ES, or AS?  ES and AS are meant to be servers, so by 
default Firefox wouldn't be installed.  Next time, either select custom, 
then scroll down to graphical-web section and check it, or simply run 
"up2date --install firefox".  I doubt it's you burner if you are able to 
complete the install successfully, but you could check the disks at the 
initial install splash screen with the "linux mediacheck" option.
