Quoting Daniel Henninger <jadestorm nc rr com>:
Is there a list somewhere of cards known to work well with RHEL?
The 3ware cards simply work. There were some performance issues with
the driver, apperently fixed in RHEL4U3. I haven't tested it yet.
I never had trouble with Adaptec cards either. I do remember using
1210SA in one of my systems (but not using it for some time now).
However, do note that 1210SA is HostRAID card. Basically, it is
software RAID card, where RAID functionality is provided by Windows
device driver. If using under Linux, waste of money (you'll be paying
extra $$$ for some BIOS code and Windows device driver that you can't
use). Under Linux it will just work as regular SATA controller (which
is what the card really is), you'll see two drives attached to it as
separate drives, no matter what you setup in BIOS. Don't remember why
we got it, could be it was originally intended for some windblows box...
The 1205SA looks like it might be identical to 1210SA, just without
fake-RAID BIOS on it (I could bet the only differentce between those
two cards is the BIOS). However, I never actually had 1205SA in my
hands, so I might easilly be wrong.
