I've not actively volunteered in a local school, but I
plan on doing so soon. Anyone in the know: what kind of resistance
should I expect? who are the best people to talk to get in the door? is
there currently any sign that schools are open to this kind of
involvement? In the past I've met with mixed signals from teachers and
administrators in my local schools, so I chose not to bother at that
time. Perhaps it's time to develop a more persistent attitude and
attempt to find ways to overcome any barriers.

i presented a session at the recent O'Reilly OSCON. you can find my ppt slides at: http://conferences.oreillynet.com/cs/os2002/view/e_spkr/1228

we presently work for 15 local catholic schools. mostly we do network admin, servers, mail, training.
if you'd like any help, just call/write.
