[OS:N:] Open Source Poetry3

The following is, I think, something that is new and an extension of open source to open systems. Does anyone know anything about this. I found it on CATENet.

CATENet is provided by the California Association of Teachers of English
(CATE), which is a California Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation.

I am currently working on a joint project between UVA and NCTE CEE
which is examining the use of open source technologies in k-12 classrooms.
The Poetry Forge (www.poetryforge.org) is a repository of writing tools and
a discussion community where teachers and students can collaboratively
explore how the tools can be used, when they are most appropriate, and
whether or not the open source elements of the project (posting source code
for "sharing" and development) is effective and realistic. We're in the
earliest stages of implementation. My plan is to work with approximately
ten classes this fall, helping teachers and students to integrate the tools
and then to develop those which extend their skills as writers.

I'm searching for feedback from teachers who understand the reality of the
classroom and the reality of student needs. That isn't a regular component
of the university setting - and I genuinely feel that this project won't
mean anything unless it's anchored in what teachers and students need.
