It appears you are confusing your political systems.  Communism, as a political system precludes demoncracy.  There are, however, democratic socialist countries and that system is know to wokr out quite well.  Canada, UK, Switzerland and many other European nations operate under such a system.  Resources are redistributed in a far more just fashion than in a capitalist society such as the US.  In my opinion, our medical system should be overhauled to resemble that of such democratic socialist systems.  Of course, if the majority don;t want to do so, it wouldn't be democratic.   I do believe that if the majority of people in the US understood what the ramificatoins werre, they would vote for such a change.  The present system benefit rich pharmaceutical companies and insurance agencies far more than patients.  Our schools systems are essentially socialized (everyone gets a free education to age 18), but resources could certainly be allocated better.
One more reason to support open source software in schools!
