You are confusing the government obligation to provide, with their
attempt to inhibit. I have some strong opinions on misdirecting their
power. No. They do not have to provide an outlet for exercising your
rights, but they are on rocky ground trying to stop them.

Open Source in education and *legislative* issues. Not that hard to
connect the dots. If they are forcing them to use filtering, I want that
filtering to be Open Source. There, now it fits *both* of the main
criteria.

I never said anyone owes me (or anyone) a soap box, but this is
censorship no matter how you slice it. They can't kick my soapbox out
and penalize me financially for getting back on it. Just ask the
librarians about this sort of thing.

Is it's heart in the right place? You bet, I don't want my kids to see
some of the horrible things that pop up in a browser window either. Do I
trust the government to determine what's good for my kids versus
teachers and the administration of my local schools? Not usually.

Again, the purpose of this forum is determined by the participants. Feel
free to bow out of any conversation you choose, but no one here needs a
baby sitter.

I posted for informative reasons, the fact that the participants chose
to discuss it further makes it relevant to this forum.
