but I would like to point out that most (all ?) major distribution now
come with a package manager that match (more or less) Deabian's apt
featureset.
Fedora/RedHat -> yum (+/- up2date)
Mandrake -> urpmi
Gentoo -> emerge
SuSE -> YaST (it does package management, right ?)
etc ...
Actually, I am an happy user of apt4rpm under Fedora. I do think,
though, that the package management GUI of Mandrake is superior to the
one shipped with Fedora or Synaptic.
Automatic software installation (and package management) _is_ the Linux
killer application, IMHO.
