migrate from linux to hpux

hi all, 

I am trying to migrate from a linux system to a hpux 11i system in a 
limited time. both have PAM running. linux has both old DES and new MD5 
suuport but HP only supports DES.
I have tried to copy and paste MD5 string in linux /etc/shadow file to 
HPUX /etc/passwd file. But it did not worked.
how can IĞ enable HP-UX pam to use MD5?
