If you think about it, reading the lilo.conf at boot time would result in
a catch-22 situation.  If you changed the config file so that it now boots
Linux from a DIFFERENT hard drive, and or partition, how would the current
LILO know that?  So, the only way to tell LILO what the current configuration
is, is to rerun /sbin/lilo so that it rebuilds the boot sector info with
the latest information.

In any event, good the read that it is now working.
