Nope, unplugging the Jaz drive doesn't help.

However, if I unplug the *hard* drive, it finds the partitions on the
Jaz drive perfectly well. VC 3 shows:
 Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id:02 Lun:00
   Vendor: NEC      Mo
(the cdrom) and then something about finding sda1, sda2, sda3
(since the HD is not there, the Jaz suddenly becomes sda).

(FWIW, the HD is on a wide chain, the Jaz & CD on a narrow one....)

A thought: could it be because the hard drive doesn't seem to have
a string for vendor info? scsi_info returns:
SCSI_ID="0,0,0"
MODEL=" XP32150W L912"

Not that I have the slightest idea how to put a vendor label on it.
(or even if it's possible)

The RH4.2 boot & supp finds the partitions on both drives fine.
Unfortunately, installing 5.0 from those doesn't quite work right. :)
