Well, after additional hours of research, I came upon the
following information which led me to the answers I seeked:
1. The unrecognized PCI devices have no bearing on the
kernel's ability to recognize PCI video drivers.
2. Contrary to information provided by Metrolink, MetroX
(at least version 3.1.5) does *not* support the ATI Rage II
chipset.
3. The XFree86 Mach64 driver, version 3.3 dated June of 1997
does not support the ATI Rage II chipset found in the ATI
3D Pro Turbo card. However, the updated 3.3.1 Mach64 driver,
dated August of 1997, supports the card quite nicely.
4. The mouse /dev setting in MetroX's setup menu doesn't appear
to do a damn thing.
Hope this helps save someone else some time and effort.
