I downloaded the whole i386 directory from
ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-5.0 and I put it on a FAT16 partition. I
made sure that all the symbolic links were duplicated files on the
partition, etc, etc. I made the boot and supplementary disks and proceeded
with the install. Everything was going fine, but when it said "Scanning
for packages" it suddenly gave me a "Signal 11 error... blah blah blah...
it is safe to shut down your system". And that was it. After TWO DAYS of
trial and error, I narrowed it down to 6 RPMs which crashed the installer
every time. I tried re-downloading these RPMs, but the same thing
happened. Also, if I tried to install without them, it would give me this
same signal 11 error after I selected which components to install. WHAT IS
GOING ON HERE? I even tried to get the updated packages, but no banana.
The RPMs are: libjpeg-6a-1.i386.rpm
libjpeg-devel-6a-1.i386.rpm
patch-2.1-5.i386.rpm
readline-2.1-5.i386.rpm
tftp-0.10-2.i386.rpm
vga_cardgames-1.3.1-7.i386.rpm
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or has anyone run into the same
problem??
