FW: Defective CD

I am sorry for sending this to this list. I have previously sent out this
info to sales redhat com & redhat redhat com I haven't received any
response yet (15 days ago). Can someone please respond to put my concerns
to rest. I ordered Red Hat Linux 5.0 before 12/1/97. I received it in good
time. I tried to do a clean install and the CD wouldn't mount and make a
loud scraping noise when it tried to load. I tried it on 3 CDROM drives
with the same results. When I put Red Hat CD 1 label to label with Red Hat
CD 2 I could see that the hole in Red Hat CD 1 was slightly off center
and/or misshapen. I immediately called Red Hat sales and was politely told
to send the CD in and that a replacement would be shipped as soon as the
defective was received by Red Hat. I shipped the CD Overnight Airborne
Express on 12/4/97. The CD arrived at Red Hat on 12/5/97 at 11:30 AM and
was signed for by T. Whittinger (according to airborne). On 12/8/97 I
called Red Hat sales to check on the status of my replacement. I was spoken
to in a rude manner and told that there was no T. Whittinger at Red Hat. I
reconfirmed with Airborne and they gave me the same info. I called Red Hat
Sales back and gave the information again, to the same person. This person
told me that my return was in a big stack of returns and that my credit
card account would be credited in about two weeks. This is not what I had
in mind. I then reiterated that I was inquiring about a replacement CD.
This person then told me that that would also take two weeks and abruptly
hung up after I said thank you. I wasn't rude or disrespectful to this
person I just wanted to know when I could expect to get my replacement. I
know you guys are busy. I know you are having shipping problems (I wish I
had received 2 copies) Sorry for the long message but I had to get it out.
I have been A loyal customer since 4.0. Thanks for taking the time to read
this.
Guess what I want for Xmas (hopefully before) ;-)
