XFree3.3.1 kbd setup problem in redhat5.0

hello,
just noticed that i couldn't access the composed key's with <altgr>< for | e.g.

i have set up my /etc/XF86Config this way:
Section "Keyboard"
   Protocol        "Standard"
   XkbRules        "xfree86"
   XkbModel        "pc101"
   XkbLayout       "de"
   XkbOptions      "ctrl:nocaps"
EndSection
 
in fact copyed out of my standard XF86Config which is working....
and get:
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Error:            Can't find file "pc" for geometry include
>                   Exiting
>                   Abandoning geometry file "default"
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap

which is irritating, since the keyboard layout is mostly correct, but since i have a
german layout this way i have no access to | and ~ at least which are quite
oimportant symbols.

Any idea?
