Hello,
Recently, I finally got the PCMCIA services to work with my multifunction
card, so I can install RedHat v5.0 on my laptop.
Now, the problem... eth0 comes-up , everything goes smooth until I get to
fdisk the drive. I create the partitions as needed and I come to write and
quite and the installation comes back to me saying that I have to make a
linux partition. I looked at VC4 and I get this funky error message:
<4>hda: write_intr: status=0x01 { Error }
<4>hda: write_intr: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound },
LBAsec=268435455,sector=0
(repeats about 4 times)
<4>ide0: reset: success
<4>hda: write_intr: status=0x01 { Error }
<4>hda: write_intr: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound },
LBAsec=268435455,sector=0(repeats about 4 times)
<4>ide0: reset: success
<4>hda: write_intr: status=0x01 { Error }
<4>hda: write_intr: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound },
LBAsec=268435455,sector=0
<4>end_request: I/O error, dev 03:00, sector 0
<4>hda: hda1
<4>hda: hda1
Now, from what I can understand, It's having problems with the sectors on
the disk due to the LBA translation that is comming from the Bios on the
Laptop. I contacted AST about this and I'm waiting a reply for some more
advanced options in the Laptop's bios.
After this, I tried using FreeBSD's fdisk utility and surprisingly, it
worked... In dos, it works too.. Only in Linux. I tried with RedHat v4.2
and still the same error.
Any Ideas?
