I have the same questions, and I'd also like to know why Netscape keeps
telling me 'Host Spudboy is unknown', and complains that I probably won't
be able to load any pages (but I can, except the home page I set, which
always fails to open). I set up my hostname in Control-Panel, with
'Spudboy' as the hostname, and 'blarg.net' as the domain. I connect with
PPP, using 5.0. I, too rooted through my /etc/rc.d directory and couldn't
find a clue. (Of course, I checked every FAQ and HOWTO I could find).
I guess I just don't understand what the hostname means with a dynamic IP
address over PPP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
