XFree86

I don't understand why we have to configure X once the initial installation
is finished. Wasn't all of this information specified when you installed
RH? OK, so now I have to configure this thing I guess. I've got a book
"Running Linux, 2nd edition", and it says "The main configuration file you
need to create is /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config. This file contains
information on your mouse, video card parameters, and so on. The file
XF86Config.eg is provided with the XFree86 distribution as an example.
Copy this file to XF86Config and edit it as a starting point." My main
question here is what does that last sentence mean? Does it mean that I
should use the *.eg file to help me properly configure XF86Config?

Thanks,
Marco
