getting 4.2 to boot

Heya,
Id appreciate someone helping me out on this one...

Ive installed 4.2 on a new partition. At the end of the installation,
it spits the dummy when it goes to write the multiboot thingy.
There is no boot loader in the partition.
Now I'm left with a fully installed copy of linux, just no boot.
I can use the boot disk, and use the rescue function, but that just 
gives me a prompt with nothing there. No install logs.
Can i get a boot disk image from somewhere?
