If you haven't done so already, have a look at
<http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~sedmison/directboot.html>. I followed the
procedure given there (it's very clearly explained) to boot NT4.0 or Linux
(RHL 4.1) on one box using the NT boot loader, and so far everything has
worked perfectly. I have two installations of linux, one with the root
partition on /dev/hda2, the second with the root partition on  /dev/hdb2.
In both cases, lilo is on the superblock of the root partition. (I used
bootpart, as explained in the doc mentioned above, to make the linux
partitions bootable from the NT boot menu.) When I boot up, the NT menu
gives me a choice of NT, NT[vga mode} and the two linux installations. When
I select either linux item, I get the lilo prompt for that installation,
and then I can start linux, no problem.
