side-stepping PPPD

So far, I've been entirely unsuccessful at the task of building PPP into my
kernel and establishing a TCP over my dialup-PPP account.
What I *have* managed to accomplish is running two TCP stacks on my
Winblows95 box: one stack for the dial-up account, and one stack for the
LAN interface. I have "WinProxy" set-up as the go-between for the two
stacks so that my Linux box can use the LAN interface as a default route
and get to the internet.
So far, all I can do from the Linux box is get DNS information. The "Arena"
browser does not seem to support proxy (please tell me if I'm wrong here).
I've tried to install Mosaic, and once I got all the LIBs in the right
order, it executed, but crashed.
