Xfree86 3.2 vrs 3.3

Hi Everyone,
 I have a ati mach64 video drivers. I have Xfree 3.2 and it runs in 8 bpp.
There is a patch for it so it will run with my video drivers(I think with
more color?) . Should I do this or should I install 3.3 with the Mach64
server? What is the difference between the two(3.2 v. 3.3)? Does 3.3
upgrage 3.2? Or does it load seperatly? The only software I have installed
in Linux is Netscape Communicator beta. It works fine. But it seemed idiot
proof. (I just did the ns-install and wha-la!) I was also wondering with X
3.3 will I have to recompile the kernal? Does the README walk you through
the installation?
